it seems the club is being over run with young up and coming bowlers. Has anyone seen a young up and coming opening bat with the ability and application and the balls , to take on the position and guts it out? Or is this just putting to much faith in the youth of today!
Great to here from parents of any gender in an open forum. Ihave always been an avocate of youth and junior cricketers coming through. The point i'm trying to make is there are positions in the top two grades crying ut for some young gun, to make his own but will not be given on a silver platter. They need the grunt and hard work to put there hand up and then stick it out and tell all te old blokes to get out the way.
Smithy i think there are a few good men for the job that need to be given a season in the 2's with plenty of encouragment and belief. we will get a few great cricketers out of the batch of under 21's we have. Be great to watch them sipping on a few cans in a few years I think.

No doubt there is ability and potential within the clubs ranks, although history shows that batting at number 4,5 or 6 seems to be the preferred option of 98% of all batsmen. Is this a soft option, a lack of dedication to work at something abit more technical or poor discipline in earlier years?
Im hearing you. I can only speak on my own experiences and preferances (and my hopless form against slow bowling) if you can take the first ball from the best of the opposition then get on top of the bloke from the other end its your day and you can only get yourself out. I hate sitting around and waiting for my bat also used to like the idea of hearing we are batting and getting the pads on. batting at 4-6 means a break in your innings batting thru tea not to good at that either. I think if someone puts their hand up and says to the club this season " ill open" then he should be given the job and not be burnt at the steak for slow scoring and building a innings our power hitters can bat around him to keep the runs flowing.

It would be a nice change if some young player was given a good go at the top of the order, without continual criticism or used once or twice then pigeon holed as lower grade cricketer for the rest of there time at montrose. Saying this they would have to show the proper application and determination but something like this usually falls on deaf ears or an inability to see past ones own aspirations.
Hey Spik, if you want a crack at it, go and talk to the coach. Stop hiding away in the nets with the lower grade bowlers, that is exactly what Smo is on about. Like Mr.T says, get some Nuts!

If someone does actually have the determination to put themselves forward, i hope the rest of the club gives them due respsct. On the other hand dont just do it once or twice, have the drive to stick at it and command respect. Somethings you have to earn, there not just given.
To nominate is to select and show some bias. Its time for someone to push themselves past old self doubts and stand up to there detractors and say there good enough. Not just cower away and accept where other people think they should bat or play. In short , stick up for themselves , then there are no excuses if in the end your just not good enough.
