How could we start this? Would be great to have a couple of days with all the old faces round to talk stories and have a laugh. Smo sounds like a great one for a man like you to give me some ideas.

It would be a great thing to do, I'm sure there would be hundreds of stories and tales to be told. It would be a great way for some of us "younger" blokes around the club to learn about some of the great history of our club.
Past players is a great idea. We will need to know when we get back to home with the new rooms. Then we can combine the two. Maybe use this year to source as many names and where everyones at. We must make the first one as polished as possible otherwise numbers drop very quickly. To try to have one this year i don't think would work. I think if everyone is invited to the first game on the new surface with the new rooms maybe presented with somekind of membership badge or card with details of future meetings or lunches. I'll think on it.
Heres just a couple of ideas to throw around. Maybe get a group of club people to set down a criteria and select teams of the decades for 70s,80s,90s,00s, and unviel these on the day.To introduce an inaugural club legend, to be selected by or voted on by possibly a sub commitee or old players.Have a guest speaker at a luncheon i.e Kerry Okeefe or someone of interest.I believe you have a database of past player names and possible addresses, first we need to locate as many as possible, put together something on the day to draw people to the club not just come along and have a pissup.Put the itinerary in a newsletter and mail to everyone ask for an rsvp, we need to start thinking bigger and better.
