1st XI Played Anslie Park away Day 1 Lost the toss and bowled and tore through them, had them 4/40 odd then they had a partnerships untill that man Rogers Bowled. Great effort form all of the bowlers to get Anslie all out for 127 off 68 overs. Special mention to Chad Rogers, 6/27 off 22 overs. Well bowled. Sent in to bat 12 overs and hopefully for no loss. However a great bit of bowling saw Matty Gardner out for 3. We were 1/38 off 12 over night.
Day 2 Great day to bat the ground was alot quicket than last week and we seemed to get off to a good start with Beefa and Poddy. Poddy batted very patiently and made a vey good 37 with Beef making a very long 5 runs, batted well. From there on it fell apart with the middle order failing until Mark Garthwaite and that man Chad Rogers came to the crease and made sure that Anslie park new that they were playing a near full strenght montrose 1st XI. They hit the winning runs and then they finally broke threw the partner ship with Chad making a great contribution of 45 runs. The tail added a few runs but the stand out batter was Mark Garthwaite with an exceptional batting perfomance and he deserved more than what he made, which was 47. Great game and now the 1st XI are sitting on the top of the ladder!!!
In the 3rds we had a good win against Boronia. Good to see the young brigade show the way with Tim Christou getting 6/18 including a HAT TRICK and was very close to getting 4 in a row. Also some solid and mature batting from Keiran Perkins with 64 not out and Dirtyspik getting back into some form with 42. Another performance worth metioning was Dylan Butler who made 22 but batted with alot of maturity and skill beyond his years and got us off to a great opening stand of 60 which set up our run chase. WELL DONE!!!!
2nd XI played Mooroolbark at Mt Lilydale. Lost the toss and had a bowl. Opening bowlers got smahed around a bit by a couple of sloggers, until Benny got a break through. New bloke batted sensibly and the other flog kept swingin from his arse! All until the Bison came on and Boof took a SUPER catch (well done Boof). Had them 4/130 odd at tea. After tea we dropped 7 catches and missed 16 stumpings in holding them to 226 all out. A great effort by the bowlers, especially Matty Lowe & the better Crowe, with 3 wickets each for about 50. Better fielding would have seen us chasing aroun 150ish? Special fielding mentions to Matt Gibbs & Matt Smith (both terrible). We came back the second week determined to bat our overs, which we thought we see us get the necessary runs. Our skipper set the tone with a massive 6 in the first over and him and Matt Gibbs put on 70 for the first wicket. Matt got out, then Paul called wait and ran, leaving the Bison stuck in no mans land,OUT! Damo went out. 3 for 120 at tea, looking good but lots still to do. Boof and Paul put on 50 (well done boof), then Matt Smith and Paul put on another 50. Paul got tired and got out slogging for a fantastic 121. Howard and the bowlers finished of the job. Pete Possum got another duck (how many times have we seen that?). Benny & the better Crowe batted the last 12 overs to really rub salt into Mooroolbarks wounds, suffer in ya jocks Mooroolbark! Well done to all.
