First XI V St Andrews. Barney won the toss and bowled. We got off to a poor start with two dropped catches and some good batting seeing them at 0/42 from 9 overs. Then Firey and The Chad came on and tightened the screws. By the drinks break we had pegged them back to 1/63 from 20 overs.Further good bowling from these two, accompanied by some solid fielding (2 run outs) and a great spell by Matt Lowe, saw us bowl St Andrews out for 134 runs in the 39th over. Great team effort and an achievable target to chase.
Then we batted. 1/10,2/10,3/11 and 4/20. Terrible start again! Barns and Beef then steadied the ship for a little while, 5/42. Nathan (Bacon) joined Barns and they batted patiently and compiled a fantastic partnership 6/108. The Chad came in and Barney left soon after. Firey joined The Chad and they batted together as well as they bowled together earlier in the game to guide us to victory in the 39th over.
All round a great TEAM performance,laced with some good individual performances, by Bacon, Firey, Barney, The Chad and Rowdy Matt Lowe. Voting for 'The Barry Wellington' medal should be interesting in this round.
