Day 1 Warmish day at lilydale and Edwards lost the toss and they had a bat. Looked good in the warm up and it showed in the 2nd over with Wellington snaring an early one to have the home side 1/0. Next over came and Wellington produced the goods again as we had them 2/3 with four overs gone. A partnership came together with Walker and Moulder until 'That man Rogers' came into the attack taking the wicket of Moulder for a solid 18. The bowling was tight and the fielding better at this stage when the brilliance of Lowe saw Mccallum run out for 5 and having the 'Dales' 4/54. Sustained tight bowling lead us into the tea break having them at 4/68 and the montrose 1st XI in a very good position.
A stern word from the skipper of lilydale inspired the home side and after the break they came out firing. The bowling dropped of a tad and so did the talk in the field and it clearly showed with the next partnership of 83 denting the confidence of the wolves. D Toohey left on 64 which brought Cliff to the crease. A beautiful piece of bowling from Lowe saw him trapped in front and ajudged L.B.W for 13 with the score reading 6/165. With montrose still on top the bowling became impatiant and the fielding slack as they pushed on to be 7/210 with the tail starting to wag. Lilydale were on the attack with there skipper coming to the crease. Things were very shaky at the moment for both teams and that showed with Walker being dismissed for a very patient 92 having them 8/227. Some very gutsy shots were coming from the tail (S Toohey 46) but it was working with boundries flowing. At the end of the 80 overs montrose had really let things slip away from them with lilydale ending up on 9/293. Dissapointing finish to what looked like a good day out for montrose. Special mentions to Rogers 3/58(24), Wellington 2/8(6).
Day 2 Soaring tempretures didnt stop the montrose 1st XI as they were ready to chase down a big score of 293. A light warm up with everyone hoping the top order would click. Click it did with the first ball 4 runs with Podesta making a statement. With montrose bringing the 50 up with 10 wickets in hand it was looking good and as the score ticked over to 61 (5 extras), Podesta was on his 50. Lilydale just didnt no what to do. Finally the break through came for them as Wellington lost his wicket for a very well batted 26 and the score being at 1/119. Podesta charged on and made a great century and was soon dismissed for 103. That sore the quick decent of the middle order, 2/141 to being 4/148 at the break.
After tea we were confident of a win being in a good position with some wickets in hand. 3rd ball after tea had Gardam clean bowled by the skillfull Moulder. A miss hap in the stands (end of conversation) and out came Rogers. Himself and Edwards were battling the heat before Rogers fell for a short lived 5 with the score at 6/158 and the loss of 5 wickets for under 20 runs. Lilydale found a spark and the wolves needed a partnership. Rees joined Edwards as they formed a fightback pushing the score to 7/240 with Edwards falling for an excellent 54. Rees soon departed and the game was in Marshall and Crowe's hands. Crowe decided to get a move on smashing consecutive boundries to get the score within 30 runs. Toohey said enough was enough and had Crowe caught on 23. The game was still in the balance with Lowe and Marshall fighting for the runs. With 3 overs left 19 runs were needed and a mix up between the batsmen had Lowe run-out for 1. Dissapointing end to a great game but hopefully the montrose 1st XI can get back to there winning ways this week. Special mentions to Podesta 103 and Edwards 54.
what a short memory you have.......you did bowl the next game actually and if I remember you bowled the first over of the day the second week............
i think your memory is filled with your own achivements and memories, that you somehow forget about the times when you crush little boys dreams and memories, to please yourself on the cricket feild as captian.
No knackers i did not bowl the next week until the last over of the day to be hit for six, two times, and humiliated by the opposition. To this day i cant understand your methods on the cricket field. Dont get me wrong i repect you as a crickter and as a bloke, but as a captian... everyone is entitled to their own opinions..
knackers sorry if i have offended you but its the truth..
Mitch as we were playing on the Sunday I watched that game (I believe your talking about round 3). Justin Podesta and Booker has them in all sorts on that first day. Knackers did the right thing not bowling you and as i recall you got smashed the next week. Don't bag Knackers just for the sake of it. You have talent but should not have bowled that week. I thought you were here to make a new start, your gonna keep getting **** from Russ if you say crap like that Thats all mate
Crowie you mentioned ealier that i said "i will change", well your right i have. So i am not overreacting to the situation, which most poeple are probably waiting for me to do.
Sorry crowie if i have upset you. Sorry knackers if i have upset you. Knackers knows i was stering him up, and we have talked. Crowie i think it would be best for all if we just droped this, yes i am going to start fresh (probably not a good way to start), i can't help the things that i write.. they just come out of nowhere.
Sorry Mitch Overreaction from myself! Although it is hard to tell when a bloke whose previous posts have included" Im sick of losing my reputation""Sick of being humiliated" "I am deeply offended and ashamed" is just having a JOKE AND A LAUGH on the forum. You can see how i might be confused im not that bright.
I am mean Chum Creek (Who are you anyway?) A skinny bloke who can only use words to get his point across.
I dont think I am upset Mitch it had nothing to do with me personally. All i ever get on this forum is unwarranted praise. I'd love if someone gave us some crap. Maybe start with poor fielding, wasted ability and should bugger off.
Sorry Mitch still friends im just having a big period. APPARENTLY!
Hey Dan, you are a skinny little ranga! Possibly the worst fieldsman I have ever played first Xi with. You are a tight arse, buy your own bat!! Although with that technique why would you? Howard reckons he could face you till the cows come home. Hope that keeps you happy. I've got more later...
