18's report

The U18's played against Boronia at chandler park this round. Montrose won the toss & elected to bowl. Nic Bark & Dale Clarkson opened up the bowling, as soon after Dale pulled a muscle in his back. Nathan McCole replaced Dale and bowled a very tight spell. Wickets started to fall as Kerian Hulm was brought on to the attack. He bowled his quick legies at one end & Nic Bark still at the other end. A bowling change ment Nath McCole bowled a few before tea.

As tea came we had them 3/72. After tea M van Koll & Nic Bark continued, getting a few quick wickets and keeping the runs down. Tim Swoboda came on replacing Nic Bark, and bowled very well. By the end of the day we bowled them out in the 42nd over for 117. Nic bark finished with 3/15 off 10, MVK 4/29 off 10, K Hulm 1/15 & A Seymour 1/1 off one. (and a run out)

This week we batted chasing 117, as Tim Swoboda was called to open the batting after K Hulm was injured. Tim & K Perkins started us off in good form before Tim fell for 3. Dale clarkson was next in as he fell early. Next in was Jack Garthwaite, he as the rest of the top order fell for about 9. KP kept pushing the runs with Ben Nucifora. As Tea was only ten overs away KP fell for 14, as the team score was 4/39. M van koll decided to put the pads on to get the team through till tea. MVK & B Nucifora batted it out till tea, as the score rised to 70.

A few overs in M van Koll went out LBW, as the partnership of 45 came to an end. A very handy Nic Holloway filled the spot pushing singles & boundries. Ben Nucifora was next to go, out for a very good 38. Kerian hulm next in with Nic holloway as the pair batted for a while making plenty of quick singles. The pair made a very important partnership of about 50, seeing the side get over the line. As we reached about 120 kerian hulm went out for 23. Nic bark was next in hitting a quick 19 (+ a six), as Alan Seymour was next in after Nic Holloway went out for 22. As the overs ran out we finished with 8/155.

Special mentions to Ben Nucifora with a match winning 38, Nic Holloway & Kerian Hulm who hit the vital runs to get us over the line, and Nic Bark who bowled an outstanding 3/15 off ten overs.

I would like to congratulate the team on a great win, and looking forward to next year!
