The Season Past

1 - Who exceeded your expectations?
2 - Who underperformed? Please don't get to personal, unless it's about Chad or Knackers...
3 - Which of the young guns do you think will rise through the ranks next season?

one who exceeded my expectations was probs kieren perkins.. made a massive leap from the start to the finish of the season i reckon..josh crowe just kept gettin better and better and his batting improved greatly too i think! underperformed.. i think myself... bacon although showed good glimpses through the season..someting for us to work real hard on next season..

as to the young guns! KP again i think will take another massive step.. nick bark also if he hangs around and doesnt have any other family mid game functions.. lol :) and MVK to make a massive charge after a good season!! also like the looks of matty mckane and josh bromiley!! future looks good boys!!

1 - harvs as captain - was susceptible but gee he proved me wrong, watching the semi the seconds really want to win they hurt from that loss but i think they will go places next year they showed the fight that sometimes goes missing in the ones.
the club we had 13 teams this year in competitive grades 9 made finals that's an awesome effort
2. the ones- time is up for a few blokes i think, lets get fair dinkum from the start we now have the best rooms one of the best grounds lets get a ferocious team on the ground that no one wants to play against because they know we wont be taking their **** any more.

bacon - get fit before your 30 odd and past it like me.
chicken wing - not much to write home about this year hope next year is better

the committee - people that get on the committee and do stuff all im so sick of it! and the bull you hear from them when you ask if they can do something " im going home soon" blah blah blah!

disappointed in myself this year things got to me and annoyed me that probably shouldn't been asking the same people to pay up or do things for too long i think

3 hopefully Bark, Matty, Joshy all the 16 this year and next can push up threw the grades as they should with a good mix of old blokes teaching these kids not just throwing them up too early and shattering their confidence

1- Dan Crowe 29 wickets? and ended the season batting successfully up the order, awesome effort for a young bloke.
- Josh Crowe, first XI debut and plenty of 2's wickets, great year
- MVK had a great year, probably deserved more 2's games
- Damian Schickerling, first year out of Juniors started 3's played 1's then struggled, probably didn't get enough support. Well Done.
- Bryce Edwards, his keeping improved out of site. Will be very disappointed if his batting doesn't reach greater heights next year.
- Tim Swoboda really impressed me with his improvement, worst sledger ever!
- Under 16/1's, great improvement as the year went on. This club has a bright future.

2- I keep hearing how wonderful Keiren Perkins was. He finished great, but I reckon he wasted the first half of the year. If he showed that application the whole time he would have been keeping in the ones and batting at 7,8,9. Overall disappointing for mine. Great Kid!!
- Jake Mottram and Allan Dowdell! These blokes were given early opportunities at the expense of blokes like Beef,Firey and Lowey. Did they take that opportunity? NO! Then they just up and left, Very Poor.

3- I reckon Bacon will bounce back, might even be as a bowler who bats
- Keiren Perkins if he doesn't believe the hype
- Damian Schickerling and MVK
- Shaun Faulkingham,Tim Christou and Dylan Butler from the 16's
- Tim Swoboda, if he shuts up.
- Justin Podesta, needs to do a big preseason and have faith in himself. This kid can play!!

Wolfie (or others), who's time is up in the ones?

Mirams
Podesta
Garthwaite
Rogers
Brisbane

All blokes over 34 years of age

Wellington
Gibson
Gardam

All had plenty of chances

and more importantly, who's gonna take their place?

Don't be shy name names..

Andy...although my agility and pace in the field might indicate otherwise, my birth certificate would say I am only 31.
For me, I thought D Crowe was fantastic this year and could play an important role in the batting line-up in years to come. Has pleny of upside to his game as well (batting and bowling).

Age is not a factor if you're performing well but there needs to be a balance between youth and experience and I ask the question how many games would be lost because a lack of experience and how many games would be won with youthful exuberance and agility.

The Second's semi final was a very good example of both. A young captain in charge of a young group who's fielding, chat and support for each other was sensational. The ability to cover ground in the field to bowl accurately got them to a winning position. Inexperience on the other hand got them into trouble with the bat at 5 for stuff all but that youthful exuberance nearly got them over the line with some brilliant batting at the end.

I feel the decision to apoint a young captain, to put together a young team and by default the promation of Andy and my absense after xmas gave them all a chance grow as a group and I'm sure this has made them all better players and I think its a really good time to start promoting these young players which will in turn create chances for the next rung of young players.

This process has already started and I hope any of our older stars dont see it as disrespectful to there status at our club but see it as an opportunity to drop down the grades and enjoy their cricket at a lower level and be able to pass on some of their experience to the their younger team mates. The kids get a real kick out of playing with stars of our great club.

I agree with Russ. A very successful year for the club with a lot of very good performances.
I think it would be difficult to start mentioning individuals as there are so many young players who are coming through but I hope that all our young players realise that opportunities will start to open up for them and they need to listen to their coaches, train hard and do verything they can to improve and when opportunities present themselves then give it their best shot.

Looking forward to 2010/2011 Go the Wolves

Very measured One Tonne.

Much more fun if we name names though.

I'll start. Mirams is finished! Too fat and slow, why is he in this team?

Taking his place, Miff Smith. Shows good leadership qualities, has a good temperament, needs to do a full preseason and take advantage of opportunities similar to those received by Mottram and Dowdell.

Oh I'll continue to play Mitch, no doubt about that. How many of the U/18's will continue with The Wolves next season? And who are they?

all of them at this stage..

most of the players were bottom age this year, so they will all play this year. May even pick some more players up too!!

1. Bryce Edwards - really came from nowhere and suprised me. Last year he told me he would play 1st XI and i laughed at him. A fantastic effort and hopefully he can stay up there.
Kieren Perkins - Run machine, very good technique and can keep, well.
Dean Harris - I thought they were all rumours but the man can clearly bat.
Josh Crowe - Just a superstar. Can hit the same spot 50 times in a row. No reason why he cant open the bowling in the 1st XI. Hopefully this year he can pick up a few yards.
Mitch Van Coll - Just got too many wickets.
Tim Christou - Is an exceptional bowler and deserved to play more 1st XI games last year. Cannot wait until next season to see him develop.

2. Myself - Not good enough.
Damien Schickerling - Really think he can make alot of high scores next year in high grades
Jaiver Mastronardi - With the bat didn't perform but was an outstanding captain.
Chad Rogers - Compared to last season, he under performed this year. Will bounce back. (If his 49 year old body holds up!)

3. Tim Christou - As above
Kieren Perkins - As above
Ben Nucifora - Has got talent just needs to use it.
