New format for the Wilkins teams this year will see a big shift in how teams fare.
1. Kilsyth Three words why they will bounce back to Chandler. Money, Money, Money. Flash the cash and back you go, at least they should. The bridesmaid has been potting this comp for a few years now. Will be interesting to see if he can dominate like he thinks he can. Spencer should tear it apart and if Luckman bats half as good as he can he will make plenty. Back to Chandler by the length of the Flemington straight.
2. East Ringwood Why ? One word - Hill (Darren that is ). They faltered towards the end of last season without Scott Hill and Watt. With these 2 back and the other Hill they will go much better. Also the fact that Stock can just bat will help the cause.
3. Lilydale Relegated but survived. They won 3 out of 4, two day matches last season but only 1 of 8, one day matches. The new format will suit them perfectly. Toohey, Moulder and Baxter will relish bowling plenty of overs. The big question is can their batsmen do something, Paul Walker made 300+ last year then Toohey was second highest with the bat. This needs to change if they are to challenge for the flag.
4. Ainslie Park New coach, new start. Watch out for this team to make a huge improvement this year. Walles to have a big year this season and win the comp medal. Croot and the Big Ship will also make plenty. If they can get their bowling attack fit and playing together Ham, Bryant and Marulli will do some damage. The only problem I can see is that they only won 1 out of 4, two day matches last season.
5. Warrandyte Hopefully Mooney and Walshe have stepped back to allow young kids to play. Warrandyte wanted two day cricket, lets see if it was worth the effort. They need Sazenis to take 35 wickets and White to make 450 runs if they are to do well.
6. St Andrews Surprised a few last season. They won 3 out of 4, two day matches and 4 out of 8, one day matches. You would think this new format will suit them. The only problem is that they are that old they won't last the season. Stop Harvey with the bat and Evans with the ball and the opposition wins.
7. Montrose Surprised everyone last season. Rogers is a gun, Edwards is very good and after that they fall away. They only won 1 out of 4, two day matches last season and won 7 out of 8, one day matches. In those one dayers they won 4 of them in very close finishes. This mainly two day format will not suit and they will struggle.
8.Chirnside Park Up again but without Steiner for most of it. That will hurt a lot, they will beat teams below them and surprise 1 or 2 above them but if they can finish mid pack they have done well. Springett as coach. Interesting choice?
9. Mooroolbark Played finals last season without winning a two day match and got smashed in the 1st final. New format will not suit and they will struggle.
10. Heathmont Baptists Know nothing about them but looking at the competition this is where they will finish.
I dont know what flog writes this rubbish but is obviosly ill informed. I hope our guys use this as a little extra motivation to stick it up those tools at the RDCA. Montrose back in Chandler wont that hurt.
They musn't of realised we lost the fat bastard that was holding us back so now "the bison" can enter and clean up all these flogs with some dazzling leg spin. Thats if he doesn't do a Fred Gibson and leave after finding the love of his life!
